Held at the Dark Horse Pub in Philadelphia.

First order of business was registration of new members of the APT. Once all present for voting had been confirmed on the membership rolls kept by acting treasurer, J. Del Conner, ballots were distributed to the members.

Acting President Edward Mauger called for nominations for each of the three officer positions, President, Treasurer and Secretary.

Edward Mauger stood as a candidate for President. There were no other nominations.
J. Del Conner stood as a candidate for Treasurer. There were no other nominations.
Christina Hansen stood as a candidate for Secretary. There were no other nominations.

Members cast their first ballot for the slate of officers. Edward Mauger was elected 2009 APT President with a unanimous vote of 23 in favor. J. Del Conner was elected 2009 APT Treasurer with 22 votes for him and one vote for Christina Hansen. Christina Hansen was elected 2009 APT Secretary with 22 votes for her and one vote for J. Having elected officers, nominations were solicited by the newly elected President for the four at-large members of the Executive Committee. Nominees were Abraham Chappelle, Brian Kane, Ernest Rouse, Michael Tait, Greta Greenberger and Thomas Farris. Each candidate gave a short speech.

Executive Committee ballots were collected and counted. The numerical tallies were kept private and results were announced. The 2009 Executive Committee consists of Brian Kane, Ernest Rouse, Greta Greenberger and Thomas Farris.

Elections having been concluded, further business consisted of informal discussions of ideas for the upcoming year, such as Ed Mauger’s suggestions about a day-long tour in June for City officials and Ernest Rouse’s suggestion of chartering a double-decker bus for a group tour of Philadelphia for APT members.

Secretary and webmistress Christina Hansen announced the creation of the APT’s website, www.phillyguides.org and solicited suggestions and content for it.

Announcements regarding changes in the hours of operation for historic sites such as Carpenter’s Hall (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in January and February), Elfreth’s Alley (visitor center closed until further notice) and the Atwater Kent (closed for two years for renovations) were brought by members.

The next date for the APT meeting was announced as the third Thursday in February, February 19. An earlier start time of 6:30 was proposed and accepted, to allow for a social hour ahead of a 7:30 start time for official business.

Meeting was adjourned around 8:30 pm.
